NEST 2021: Important details about preparation, exam date and admit card release

The National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) administers the entrance examination for admission to the 5-year-integrated MSc program at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (Bhubaneswar) and the University of Mumbai’s Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS). The NEST 2021 is set to take place on August 14, 2021, and prospective candidates should commence their preparations for this national-level test without delay.

The registration period for NEST 2021 has been extended until July 15, 2021, until 11.55 pm. Following the closure of registrations, the NEST 2021 admit card will be available from August 4, 2021, onwards. It is crucial for aspirants to organize their study schedule, focusing on subject-specific preparation well in advance. This approach allows the last 10 days to be dedicated to thorough revision and practice.

To ensure comprehensive coverage, candidates should align their study plan with the NEST 2021 syllabus, which is based on NCERT/CBSE class 12 Science subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. The exam consists of 200 objective-type questions, with 50 questions from each subject. Breaking down the syllabus into smaller sub-topics and incorporating them into the study plan allows for the completion of all subjects with ample time for last-minute revisions.

Acquiring NEST previous year papers is a valuable learning resource. Reviewing question papers from past years aids in understanding the question format and identifying high-scoring topics. When used in conjunction with the corresponding years’ NEST answer key, candidates can verify correct solutions to important questions from previous exams.

A solid understanding of fundamental scientific concepts, theories, laws, and formulas at the class 12 level is crucial for success in the NEST exam. Referring to NCERT textbooks, class notes, and online learning resources can help clarify any confusion and enhance preparation.

Though the NEST 2021 result, initially expected in June, is likely to be released in September/October 2021 due to the exam date postponement, candidates aspiring for merit lists should adopt strategic practices such as solving mock tests. Developing a personal strategy for solving the question paper within the allotted time is vital, and candidates should prioritize time management in their preparations.

Utilizing short notes to record essential facts, figures, formulas, and theories during NEST exam preparation is advisable. This not only aids in better memorization but also serves as convenient revision material in the final days before the exam.
